Introduction

Since 1937, Longwood Foundation has invested in Delaware and the Kennett Square area in Pennsylvania. Our purpose is to be a catalyst to strengthen nonprofits in our region to better serve their communities. We do so by providing grants through our responsive grantmaking process and by investing in nonprofit capacity building through leadership development.

Catalysts Together by Longwood Foundation is a pilot leadership and capacity-building program that invests in nonprofit executive leaders as the catalysts to strengthen their organizations. Created in collaboration with nonprofit executives, this year-long program equips leaders with the experiences and tools they need to run healthy, sustainable, and mission-driven organizations. Together, with their peers, leaders transform themselves and elevate their organizations so that quality of life is improved for all in our region.

Position Summary

The Data and Operations Analyst contributes to the success of Longwood Foundation’s Nonprofit Capacity Building team through data management and operations support of the Catalysts Together program. The role encompasses a spectrum of responsibilities such as survey management and reporting, focus groups facilitation, monitoring goals and additional operational support needs, such as participant communications.

Essential Functions

Project Management

  • Develop a deep understanding of the program’s objectives and expected outcomes.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive work plans for the execution of data and project management processes that are aligned with program goals and ethical data standards.
  • Ensure the smooth execution of the data collection plan.
  • Establish regular communication channels with the program team to address queries and provide updates on data collection progress.

Data Collection

  • Utilize an item bank and other tools to design and refine data collection tools in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee the distribution of participant surveys and collaborate with the program team to schedule and facilitate focus groups, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of participant and staff perspectives.
  • Monitor the progress of data collection activities to ensure adherence to timelines.
  • Spearhead the data collection process, ensuring the acquisition of comprehensive and high-quality data from various sources.
  • Implement measures to ensure participant confidentiality and data security.
  • Obtain informed consent from participants and communicate ethical considerations.
  • Regularly review and update data handling procedures to align with ethical guidelines.
  • Oversee the management of diverse data sources, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and relevance.
  • Provide support and clarification on data collection tools and methods to the program team.

Collaboration with Evaluation Consultant 

  • Work closely with the evaluation consultant to contextualize and interpret data within the framework of the program’s learning agenda.
  • Collaborate in the synthesis of findings, connecting data insights with broader program goals and outcomes.

Data Analysis, Reporting and Communications

  • Manipulate and transform raw data into a format suitable for statistical analysis.
  • Conduct basic statistical analyses to uncover patterns, trends, and correlations within the data
  • Develop basic dashboards that visually represent key program metrics and indicators.
  • Create dashboards that are user-friendly, facilitating easy access and interpretation by program stakeholders.

    Operations Management

    • Manage the Catalysts Together email inbox.
    • Effectively communicate and collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
    • Provide support for additional organizational projects and operational tasks.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of data analysis experience, including project management.
    • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team to advance a shared mission.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
    • Experience with Airtable or a similar project management and data visualization platform preferred.
